The Project

ABOUT CoVE SA

Centre of Vocational Excellence for Climate-Smart Agriculture in South Africa (CoVE SA) is a transformative project aimed at improving food security and promoting a sustainable environment through climate-smart practices. This initiative responds to the pressing challenges posed by climate change on horticulture development in Africa. It promotes technology transformation and cultivating a modern, skilled workforce.

The CoVE SA project is a collaborative effort involving three South African TVET schools, two European academic partners, one South African academic partner, and a South African private partner. It has solid support from key public and private stakeholders.

THE OBJECTIVES

The primary objectives of the project include expanding the EU-CoVE model to increase vocational excellence in South Africa’s horticulture sector, establishing and interlinking CoVE networks in South Africa, and driving innovation in TVET programs through the development of modern, digital learning materials.

The project also aims to ensure that current and future sector professionals possess the necessary skills and competencies by creating innovative and blended learning programs, and by increasing the competence of students, teachers, and professionals.

HOW WE DO IT

Our approach includes building capacity, providing consulting and coaching services, and establishing CoVE hubs with EU expertise.

We conduct labour market needs analyses, improve research and technological skills in the climate-smart domain, and promote inclusive digital education through short online professional courses.

The dissemination of activities and results will happen through local South African, EU, and worldwide networks.
