On 28 November 2024, fifteen farmers had the opportunity to visit DICLA Training and Projects as part of an educational and outreach programme, aimed at enhancing their agricultural skills and knowledge. The visit was organised by Lovedale TVET CoVE Hub, an initiative under the European Union-funded Erasmus+ programme through the CoVE South Africa project.

About DICLA Training and Projects

DICLA Training and Projects was established in 2008 and provides accredited training courses in the agricultural sector for the employed, unemployed, emerging farmers, youth, women and people with disabilities. They have a wealth of experience in agriculture, training, and project management. Their facilitators are graduates of tertiary institutions, agricultural colleges and universities; and are accredited assessors with AgriSETA.

A Day of Learning and Collaboration

The visit to DICLA Training and Projects Crop Farm was an educational and enriching experience for the farmers, providing them with practical knowledge, hands-on exposure to modern farming techniques. Crop rotation techniques, sustainable water management, soil health management, and pest and disease management were the topics which were included in the demonstrations.

The visit also provided an opportunity to network with peers and experts to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing. The farmers left the farm with new tools and insights to improve their own agricultural practices, ultimately aiming to boost productivity, sustainability, and profitability.
