Boland College, as a consortium partner in the European Union Erasmus+ project “Centres of Vocational Excellence in Climate Smart Agriculture”, has been using the opportunities presented to the college to promote the CoVE SA project on a national level.

Mr. Vincent Uys, Head of the Department of Farming Management, served as a panelist at the Agri-Edu Symposium held in Pretoria on 10 December 2024. The theme of the symposium was “Transforming Agricultural Education for Sustainable Futures" and was hosted by the Agriculture Sector Education and Training Authority (AgriSETA). Key industry leaders emphasized the importance of building strong partnerships between academia and the industry in the sector, coinciding with one of the key objectives of the CoVE SA project. Mr. Uys referred to the EU funded project and how partnering with stakeholders can better equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge they require for sustainable agricultural practices.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Training, Dr. Nobuhle Pamela Nkabane, visited Boland College Worcester Campus on 7 January 2025. Mr. Charles Goodwin, the Principal of Boland College, provided Dr Nobuhle with a tour of the campus to show the preparations before the 2025 academic year started. The tour included a visit to the greenhouse and farming site of the campus. Mr. Uys explained the current CoVE project to the minister and the impact it has on sustainable agriculture in the Boland region.
